What do the services and programs aim to achieve?

Promoting health, safety and wellbeing

CSNSW has a duty to provide reasonable access to services such as healthcare, education, and counselling. These services contribute to a safe environment for offenders and those who work with them.

Reducing the risk of re-offending

Services and programs are designed to reduce the risk of reoffending.  CSNSW includes specialised units for psychological and disability services.

Reintegrating offenders back into their communities

Offenders require assistance:

  • to maintain links to their community when they are in custody
  • when returning to their community from custody
  • when serving a sentence under supervision in their community

The needs of the offender are taken into account, as are the needs of their victims and the safety and well-being of the general community.
