How to get there

Public transport

The centre is 6km from Muswellbrook railway station. Taxi's are available from the train station to the centre. For train timetables, please visit NSW TrainLink

Private transport

Travel north through Muswellbrook along the New England Highway, turn right into McCullys Gap Road and continue for 2km. Take the first left turn and follow the signs to the centre. There is limited parking available.

Visitor information

Bookings

Bookings for video and in-person visits are required and can be made by via JUST Connect or by phone.

Visits must be pre-booked by calling the Visits Booking Line on (02) 6542 4380 on Monday and Tuesday between:

  • 9:00am to 12:00pm or
  • 1:00pm to 3:30pm

Before travelling to the centre for an in person visit, please call to confirm your visit and visiting time.

New COVID-safety measures apply to in-person visits, ensure you know the rules to avoid missing out.

In-person visit times

In-person visits take place on Saturday and Sunday (no Public Holidays)

  • Saturday, Session 1, 1pm - 3:30pm, please present to the gatehouse at 12:30pm sharp.
  • Sunday, Session 1, 9:30am - 12:00pm, please present to the gatehouse at 9:00am sharp.
  • Sunday, Session 2, 1pm - 3:30pm, please present to the gatehouse at 12:30pm sharp.

Video visit booking

Visits must be pre-booked by calling the Visits Booking Line on (02) 65424380. The Visits booking line is open:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9:00am to 12:00pm and 1pm - 3:30pm

Video visit times

Visits must be pre-booked by calling the Visits Booking Line on (02) 65424380. The Video visits times take place on:

  • Saturday, 9am - 12:30pm, 25 minute visit times

Approved international video visits 

  • Monday - Friday, 3pm - 4pm, 60 minutes visit times

Legal visits

Legal practitioners may visit between Monday and Sunday from: 

  • 9am to 11:30am or
  • 12:30pm to 2:30pm

Conditions of entry

Appropriate dress standards

The visits area is a family environment. You must dress appropriately. This generally means clothes must be respectable and not too provocative.

You cannot wear anything that hides your face, except for religious reasons. In that case you will be asked to remove your face covering temporarily so staff can verify your identity.

Inappropriate dress (PDF, 419.1 KB) includes:

  • Clothes that have possibly controversial logos, words or slogans such as:
    • Motorcycle gang 'colours' or gang insignias
    • Logos or symbols associated with drugs or drug paraphernalia or swear words
  • Tight or revealing clothing including:
    • Tops and dresses that expose the stomach or chest
    • Swimsuits or skirts or shorts shorter than mid-thigh
    • Mesh or other "see-through" clothes
    • Clothes that are excessively dirty, ripped or frayed
  • Heels higher than 5 centimetres
  • Any jewellery other than a plain wedding band, sleepers and studs. This means no engagement ring or any other ring with stones, and no bracelets or necklaces
  • Tops or jumpers with a hood
  • Hats, scarves or head coverings (excluding religious wear)
  • Hair scrunchies or clips. Only single elasticated hair ties are allowed
  • Watches, smart watches or activity trackers
  • Bare feet.

Regulations

  • You must stay 1.5 meters away from each other and masks are to be worn throughout the entire booking.
  • Visitors and inmates must hand sanitise prior to the commencement of the visit and at the end of the visit once masks have been removed.
  • All visitors and inmates are to remain seated at all times.
  • A limit of 6 people per visit (including children); with a maximum of 4 adults. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Food and drinks are available to purchase using gold coins only (Maximum $50).
  • Visitors will be required to provide their current contact details.
  • Visitors will be asked questions regarding their current health and recent close contacts with any COVID-19 patients or symptoms.
  • Visitors will be asked about any recent travel and if they have been to any increased testing or case locations.
  • Any breach of these rules will result in your visit being terminated and possibly being banned for a period of time
  • Lockers are available to place ALL personal items in during the visit, other than ID (Digital Driver Licence cannot be accepted), gold coins and the locker key which can be taken into the visits area.
  • Infants and baby bottles are to have formula only (no liquid). Hot water is available at the facility.
  • Visitors must adhere to the Centre’s Dress Policy which can be found on our website. Failure to do so will result in denied entry.

  • acute medical concerns, e.g. heart attack.
