Corrective Services NSW

Managing offenders in the community

Community Corrections is the part of Corrective Services NSW that supervises offenders in the community while supporting them to complete their court orders. We promote offenders' safe and effective rehabilitation and re-integration through partnerships with other agencies and community groups.

Community Corrections staff work in more than 60 Community Corrections offices and facilities across NSW with the aim of making communities safer and enabling people to change their lives for the better.

Our work

Community Corrections does the following work:

How we carry out our work

Our work is guided by the directions in the Community Corrections policy and procedures manual

We also manage diversionary programs at residential facilities, and transitional centres across NSW.

To meet our responsibilities, we work with non-government organisations (NGOs) to support people on community based orders.

Diversionary programs

Rather than go into custody, the courts may offer a diversionary program to some individuals. Community Corrections manages these programs at our residential facilities:

Transitional centres

We also manage transitional centres to support female offenders about to return to their communities:

  • Bolwara in Emu Plains
  • Parramatta transitional centre.
