Mannus Correctional Centre is a minimum-security facility for male offenders. The centre is located approximately 500 km south-west of Sydney, and 10 km from Tumbarumba, the nearest town.

How to get there

Public transport

Tumbarumba has one CountryLink Bus service every day, except on Saturday when there are no services running.

There are no other public transport options, and there are no taxis or rideshare services such as Uber.

Private transport

Parking is available within easy walking distance of the visits centre.

Visitor information

Bookings

You must book before you can make an in-person or video visit.

You can make a booking either of the following ways:

  • online through Just Connect
  • by calling the Centre on (02) 6941 0333 Tuesday or Wednesday,  between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

Visit times

Before travelling for a visit, call the Centre to confirm your visit and visiting time.

We advise you take a RAT test prior to departing to avoid any disappointment. Please do not visit the centre if you return a positive result as you will not be granted entry. You must follow our measures for COVID-safe in-person visits, ensure you know the rules to avoid missing out.

In-person visit times

In-person visits take place on Saturday and Sunday only (no public holidays) from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Video visit times

Video visits take place on Saturday only (no public holidays) from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Each session lasts 30 minutes, with a 15-minute break between visit times. 

The first available session is 7:30 am to 8:00 am. The last available session is 3:30 pm to 4 pm.

Legal visits

Legal practitioners may visit Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Notification of intention to visit should be made at least 24 hours in advance. Email the Manager of Security on mannusccadmin@dcj.nsw.gov.au with the following information:

  • details of the inmate
  • your preferred meeting date and time.

Email communication with an inmate

You may send an email to a family member at Mannus Correctional Centre.  Your email will be printed out for the inmate.

Your email must adhere to the following rules:

  • Email subject includes inmate MIN and surname, e.g. MIN 987489 SMITH, FrankieJohn.
  • You can only send only one 1 email per day to an inmate.
  • Emails must be a maximum of 4 x A4 pages including any images such as photos. 
  • Insert images into the body of your email: attachments will not be printed. (Image editing applications can be used to reduce the size of images so they fit on the page.)

If you do not provide a MIN or surname, your email will not be printed. 

The following email items will not be accepted or printed:

  • Any email attachments.
  • Pornographic, drug or gang identification material.
  • Legal mail.

Conditions of entry

Appropriate dress standards

The visits area is a family environment. You must dress appropriately. This generally means clothes must be respectable and not too provocative.

You cannot wear anything that hides your face, except for religious reasons. In that case you will be asked to remove your face covering temporarily so staff can verify your identity.

Inappropriate dress (PDF, 419.1 KB) includes:

  • Clothes that have possibly controversial logos, words or slogans such as:
    • Motorcycle gang 'colours' or gang insignias
    • Logos or symbols associated with drugs or drug paraphernalia 
    • Swear words
  • Tight or revealing clothing including:
    • Tops and dresses that expose the stomach or chest
    • Swimsuits 
    • Skirts or shorts shorter than mid-thigh
    • Mesh or other "see-through" clothes
    • Clothes that are excessively dirty, ripped or frayed
  • Heels higher than 5 centimetres
  • Any jewellery other than a plain wedding band, sleepers and studs. This means no engagement ring or any other ring with stones, and no bracelets or necklaces
  • Tops or jumpers with a hood
  • Hats, scarves or head coverings (excluding religious wear)
  • Hair scrunchies or clips. Only single elasticated hair ties are allowed
  • Watches, smart watches or activity trackers
  • Bare feet.

If you want to give us urgent or important information so that we can take immediate action for your family member or friend, call the correctional centre on (02) 6941 0333.

Urgent information about your family member or friend might include:

  • risks to self, e.g. thoughts of self-harm, thoughts of suicide
  • risks to others, e.g. thoughts of harm to others
  • acute medical concerns, e.g. heart attack.
