Searching for a missing person

If you have concerns for the safety or welfare of a person who is missing, you can make a report at your local Police station.

If an Australian is missing overseas, or if you live overseas and are concerned about someone missing in Australia, please report them missing at your nearest police station.

Police agencies and registers

• NSW Police Force Missing Persons Registry (MPR) coordinates missing persons investigations across NSW and maintains the Missing Persons Enquiry System.

• National Missing Persons Coordination Centre, Australian Federal Police (NMPCC) hosts an Australian Public Register, where the person has been missing for more than three months.

• International Social Service Australia - assistance for families experiencing international parental child abduction, search and reunion support to people separated by government intervention, international post-adoption tracing and family tracing.
