Victims Advisory Board

The Victims Advisory Board is established under the Victims Rights and Support Act 2013. Its functions are:

  • to advise the Minister on policies and administrative arrangements relating to support services and assisting victims of crime
  • to consult victims of crime, community victims support groups and government agencies on issues and policies concerning victims of crime
  • to promote legislative, administrative or other reforms to meet the needs of victims of crime.

The Commissioner of Victims Rights chairs the Victims Advisory Board, which is comprised of representatives from government and the community appointed by the Attorney General.

NSW Government agency representatives are appointed from the Department of Communities and Justice, Legal Aid NSW, NSW Police Force and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The community members are:

  • Craig Hughes-Cashmore
  • Kimia Randall
  • Gowan Vyse
